How to treat recurrent pus-filled acne that does not resolve with medications?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from acne for a month now. I have a combination skin and acne-prone skin. Initially, it started with small bumps all over my face, then progressed to pus-filled pimples. The small bumps also just popped out of nowhere. These pus-filled pimples occur frequently. The small bumps also popped out of nowhere. I have been using Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide creams. What skincare should I follow?

Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

According to your clinical history, I assume you have grade 2 acne. You need a short course of antibiotics, so I suggest you take the tablet Azithromycin 500 mg once daily for seven days. Continue using this ointment every day. Also, take Vitamin B complex daily. Wash your face daily with a face wash containing 2 % Salicylic Acid. I would like to know whether your periods are regular to ensure that you do not have hormonal issues. Consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps you out.

Kindly follow up after weeks.
