Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing a skin issue in my thigh and groin areas for the past 15 days, which initially presented as a small discharging boil. During the treatment, I took an antifungal medication. However, after some time, I noticed that the affected areas turned completely black, and rashes started to appear. For which I consulted my dermatologist, who prescribed me a new course of medications. Currently, I am taking Itraconazole, Fluconazole, and applying Luliconazole cream as per my doctor's instructions. Alongside this, I am on regular antihypertensive medication, specifically Metoprolol 12.5 mg, to manage my blood pressure. Additionally, I was on statin treatment, but my doctor advised me to discontinue it temporarily due to the hot weather. So far, I have not undergone any lab tests for this specific skin condition. However, my dermatologist advised me to monitor its progress, and if it does not improve within the next ten days, I will need to get some lab tests done to assess the situation further. Kindly provide your suggestion to resolve my issue.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. I have examined your pictures (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), and it appears that you have tinea cruris, a fungal infection in the groin area. For treatment, I suggest you take the following medications:

  1. Take one tablet of Fluconazole 200 mg once daily with lemon water.
  2. Apply Luliconazole cream locally in the affected area during the morning.
  3. Apply Terbinafine cream locally in the affected area during the night.
  4. Take one tablet of Cetirizine 5 mg once daily for two weeks.
  5. Additionally, I suggest you use a mild soap for bathing to help with the fungal infection.

I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for the reply doctor,

I have also been suffering from dandruff, and I am currently using Ketoconazole shampoo. Is this shampoo okay, or should I consider using a different medication? Kindly help.
