Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 56-year-old female. I am taking the tablet Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. My main concern is that I have weight loss issues. My AST and ALT levels are mildly elevated. A renal stone and mild hydronephrosis were detected in my ultrasound scan. My vaginal ultrasound scan shows some uterine thickening. I recently stopped taking the tablet Atorvastatin for mildly elevated LDL levels. I lost 44 lbs after taking the tablet Rosuvastatin. I also had a median nerve block for pain in the back.

Hello,

Welcome to ciliniq.com.

I have reviewed your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Based on the given details, you need further workup to determine the cause of weight loss. After the workup, you can share the details with me. I suggest you check your fasting blood glucose levels and consult a gastroenterologist for upper and lower gastrointestinal tract endoscopy. You might need a CT (computed tomography) scan to evaluate your symptoms.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

My fasting glucose levels are within normal limits. I will consult a gastroenterologist for colonoscopy and get the CT scan done. My thyroid levels are within normal limits. Are there any chances that the tablet Atorvastatin 20 mg and intermittent Acetaminophen use could have impacted the liver function test reports?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are very rare chances that the tablets you are taking could have caused derangement in the LFTs (liver function tests). I would suggest continuing with the medications (consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
