Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male, weighing 167 pounds. My left eye has been red for the past six or seven days. In the morning, there is some discharge in the eye, and I also have a slight itchiness in my left eye.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There are several causes for the redness of the eyes, primarily allergy, infection, inflammation, and dry eyes, among others.

  1. Redness and itching can be due to allergy.
  2. Redness, pain, watering, and decreased vision can be due to infection.
  3. Redness and pain can be due to inflammation.
  4. Redness and foreign body sensations can be due to dryness.

If there is only redness without any other symptoms, it might be normal due to slight exposure to dust, temperature changes, or air, especially in the morning. Stress can also cause redness. You can follow these measures to maintain eye health:

  1. Blink frequently.
  2. Wash your eyes with fresh water.
  3. Apply cold compresses.
  4. Use lubricating eye drops like Carboxymethylcellulose.

These measures can help keep your eyes healthy, although they may not directly address redness, which often does not require treatment on its own. That said, it is advisable to consult a local ophthalmologist for a proper examination and appropriate treatment.

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Thanks for using icliniq, and have a nice day.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
