Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a fever and body ache a week ago for which I took Paracetamol 650 mg. After 3 days I had swelling and pain in the ankle and wrist joint for which I took Aceclofenac and Paracetamol. Now I have redness on my arms and legs. What to do now?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you are experiencing redness on your arms and legs after taking medications, it could be a possible allergic reaction due to antibiotics. Allergic reactions can vary in severity, so it is important to monitor your symptoms closely. If the redness is accompanied by difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or any other severe symptoms, it is important to seek immediate medical attention. If the redness is mild and not causing any major discomfort, you could try the following steps:

  1. Stop taking the medications that you suspect might be causing the reaction.
  2. Apply a cold compress or take a cool bath to help soothe the affected areas.
  3. Avoid scratching or rubbing the red areas, as this can worsen the irritation.
  4. If you have any over-the-counter antihistamines, you could try taking them to help reduce the allergic response like the tablet Fexofenadine (antihistamine) 120 mg.
  5. If the redness persists or gets worse, or if you develop any other concerning symptoms, it is best to consult a doctor or physical, professional for a proper evaluation and guidance.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
