Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 31 year old male. Recently, I have been diagnosed with tubercular lymphadenitis and started the treatment three days back for TB. My USG whole abdomen reveals hemangioma of the liver. I have pain in left side below ribs which radiates to back and a couple of months back on CT scan done for other reasons showed stomach rugae thickening. Now my question is what is causing the pain? Can stomach rugae thickening cause pain in that area? What is the treatment of stomach rugae thickening? Please suggest medicine for it. One of my brothers who is a pharmacist suggested Pantoprazole and Acogut 100 mg tablets. Is it worth taking the medicine for stomach rugae thickening? I need your suggestion. Can bacterial infection like tubercular lymphadenitis cause mild splenomegaly?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Rugae thickening by itself is not going to cause you stomach pain. Such thickening is usually normal or a result of hyperacidity, or rarely Menetrier disease.
Now, first of all, you need an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy as well as a biopsy to rule our Helicobacter pylori infection and other causes.
Tuberculosis can also cause such thickening. It is unlikely that tuberculosis would cause mild splenomegaly. However, it is important to see if tuberculosis has involved spleen also. You can take the medicines suggested by your pharmacist but cross check with your doctor in case they have given the same with your tuberculosis medications.
I hope it helps you.
