Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female. I have symptoms of watery eyes, running nose, and sneezing a lot due to pollen allergy. Last year, the symptoms lasted for a few days but subsided on taking the tablet Omnaris and tablet Citirizine as prescribed by the physician. Currently, I am taking the tablet Allegra, to control the symptoms. But to the strange, I can hear a continuous ringing sound in my left ear for the last 12 hours due to which I am not able to hear the outside noises as clearly as my right ear. Is the ringing sound normal or is it due to pollen allergy? Please help. Thank you very much.

Hello,

I am delighted to welcome you to icliniq.

I read your query and understand your concern. The ringing of the ear can occur due to the following reasons: 1. Allergic Rhinitis: As there is congestion in the nasal and eustachian tube opening, there can be compromised middle ear ventilation and drainage affecting the vibration of the tympanic membrane (ear drum) leading to hearing impairment and ringing sound. Let me know if you are feeling heavy in the right ear. 2. Sensorineural hearing impairment: This condition requires prompt treatment. Hence I suggest you get the following investigations done. 1. Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA). 2. Impedance Audiometry. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
