Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I work with kids with special needs. Five days back, a kid screamed in my ears several times, after which I felt ringing in my ears. It is worse in my right ear. I went to the doctor, and he said there was no infection and it would go away in a few days. It did not go. I went back and asked for a prescription for Prednisone because I heard that it could help with noise-induced hearing problems. The doctor prescribed 60 mg a day, so I have been taking 20 mg three times a day. Today was the third day of taking all three doses. I took my third dose for today and then went to bed. I woke up a few hours later, and my ears were ringing much worse. It was much louder. What should I do? Should I stop taking medicine? I also have had a hole in the tympanic membrane in my right ear for years. I have a slight pain in my right ear, which feels different. I have had ear infections in the past that caused tinnitus, but they went away, and I do not think that is causing the problem. I am going to see an audiologist and an ENT. Kindly help. Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The Prednisone you have taken is within normal safe dose, so do not worry about your blood pressure. You need an audiologist to perform tympanometry and pure tone audiometry. Do these investigations and share the results with me so that I can guide you further. Thank you.
