Why do I have headache, cold, and running nose?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

From yesterday I have a headache, cold, and running nose. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms are suggestive of acute upper respiratory tract infection. It can be a viral infection too. Symptomatic management is done with decongestant like Levocetirizine or Phenylephrine. Vitamin C is having antioxidant property so it can be prescribed as lozenges. Take one tablespoon of turmeric powder with milk daily. Do steam inhalation three times a day with warm water. Salt water gargle can be done. Drink a lot of water. I suggest following investigations:

  1. CBC (complete blood count).
  2. Physical examination.
  3. PNS (paranasal sinus) X-ray, if needed.
  4. ASO (antistreptolysin O) titer.
