Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male. I have had nodular scabies for two months. I am taking anti-allergy drugs two times a day, using Permethrin lotion twice a week, and applying a cream that contains Hydrocortisone and Fusidic acid on the nodules which are on my genital organ.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Scabies is a highly contagious skin infestation caused by the Sarcoptes scabies mite. The typical symptoms include intense itching, especially at night, along with a rash and small, raised bumps or nodules. Permethrin lotion is a commonly prescribed treatment for scabies. It is usually applied to the entire body, left on for a specific duration, and then washed off. The treatment may need to be repeated after a week or so to ensure that all the mites and eggs are eliminated. Hydrocortisone cream is a topical steroid that can help reduce itching and inflammation. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that may be used to prevent secondary bacterial infections from developing in the affected areas. However, it is important to note that the use of corticosteroids and antibiotics should be under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Remember, scabies is highly contagious, so it is important to avoid close physical contact with others until you have completed the full course of treatment and are no longer contagious. Additionally, make sure to wash your clothes, bedding, and towels in hot water and dry them on high heat to help eliminate any mites or eggs.

In the end, please keep regular follow up with a dermatologist.

Wish fast recovery.

Kind regards.
