Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My brother-in-law has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He is aggressive often. He verbally abuses his dad and blames him. He makes his own stories and beliefs. But most of the time, he is normal. He has frequently changed jobs and now handling his restaurant. He was admitted to the hospital when the shouting and aggression were severe. The doctor has prescribed the tablets of Haloperidol, Hypnoryl, Triphexypheridyl, Olanzapine, and Diazepam injections. Also, ten courses in ECT were done. However, the patient has not responded and was reluctant to take the medications and food. The doctor said that he has schizophrenia and some traits of personality disorder. The doctor feels that he has not shown any improvements and has prescribed moving him to a rehabilitation center. Is a rehabilitation center a good option, or should I consult another doctor? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It is difficult to handle a patient with mental illness. I suggest depot injections if the patient does not take the medications. A rehabilitation center is a good option, but long-acting depot injections can be tried.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
