Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 13 years old and I have scoliosis. I have a spine curve of 24 to 28 degrees. I used a brace at night and I was told to do Schroth. But I did not do them. Is it fine to use a brace alone? Does my curve is bad that needs Schroth? How to prevent it from getting worse? Do I need to sit up while biking? Do I need to use a pillow behind my back?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The progressive nature cannot be understood by a single value of Cobb's angle. A 24 to 28 bracing is recommended. Have a review every six months to one year by doing X-rays. It is needed to see the progress whether it is less than five degrees or the progress is worse. Schroth is done to strengthen the core and spinal muscles. It helps to stop the progress. Please mention your current Risser score. Having a cobb angle of 50 or less are treated without surgery.
