Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

From time to time, my eyebrows have a tingling feeling like something is crawling in them, my eyebrows have dandruff in them, and I have a dandruff-like substance all over my forehead. I think this is giving me blepharitis which is giving me dry eye; this is only an assumption. Do I have some type of hair or skin condition? I have tried various shampoos, but this dandruff still exists.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have seborrheic dermatits. I suggest you consult a specialist and use the following medication with their consent. On your eyebrow, you can apply Tacrolimus 0.1 % lotion. You can apply it on your forehead as well. Do not apply lotion on eyelashes. Clean your eyelash with baby shampoo if you have any scaling on the eyelash.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Do I need a prescription for the medicine for the eyebrows? Also, could the dandruff be derived from my hair?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Tacrolimus may require a prescription. You may use a mild steroid that might be available over the counter but do not use it for too long (maximum ten days). You can also use Ketoconazole 2 % cream as this might be available over the counter. Dandruff on the scalp and eyebrow are part of the same problem, seborrheic dermatitis.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
