Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am seeing a lot of weight loss clinics now offering compounded Semaglutide. I am tempted because it is way cheaper than the name-brand shots. But how do you know if it is the real deal? I heard some are not using the same salt form as in Ozempic or Wegovy. Is that dangerous? And does anyone monitor these compounds for purity or strength? I am trying to figure out if the savings are worth the risk.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Compounded Semaglutide (Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists) is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), does not provide much information about the side effects, and how dangerous those side effects are. No research is available for the purity or strength of compounded Semaglutide. Hence, you must consult your physician and can switch to an FDA-approved line of treatment.
The adverse effects of compounded Semaglutide are:
Abdominal pain.
Constipation.
Diarrhea.
Fast heartbeat.
Fatigue.
Complications can be seen as:
Low blood pressure.
Dehydration due to diarrhea,
Pancreatitis,
Liver and kidney issues, etc.
You can ask for Wegovy (Semaglutide) from your physician, which is FDA-approved, and continuous research is being done on these drugs to keep you updated about the effects and adverse effects of these drugs.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
