Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just had a blood test done for my KFT and LFT. Please check and tell me what serum globulin protein is, which is high at 3.3. Also, my SGPT and SGOT are high. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your globulin is on the higher side, but the ratio of albumin to globulin is fine. This much variation is acceptable. So, nothing needs to be done regarding it if you do not have any symptoms.

Next, serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) are mildly elevated. The most common and likely cause for you is fatty liver. So, to confirm it, you should get your liver ultrasound done to identify fatty liver. But, it would be best if you also got your viral marker test done, which includes hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) antigen test and anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibodies to rule out viral infection of the liver.

Also, I guess you must have undergone a lipid profile; if not, you should have one.

After confirmation of fatty liver, you should have a healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily food, low-calorie diet, and regular exercise.

If you are overweight or have abdominal fat, try to lose it.

Also, you should make sure that you are not on any medicines or not consuming alcohol which can cause liver damage.

I hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have fatty liver and trying to lose weight and lost 5 kg this month. Secondly, my HCV test is negative. Thirdly, what is the meaning of mild elevation of globulin? What are the symptoms of high globulin?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Globulin is elevated in inflammation and infection. The isolated mild elevation is considered a standard variant. But, it is considered significant if globulin is more than albumin, which is not there in your case. Symptoms of infection are fever, chills, loss of appetite and rapid weight loss without reason, swellings anywhere on the body, and bony pains.Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Actually I am having foot pain that comes and goes. That is why doctors do this test. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Where exactly do you get foot pain?

Is it at heels or on the upper surface of the foot or ankle, both sides or one side?

Your foot pain is unlikely to be related to globulin level.

Your C-reactive protein (CRP) is also normal, which suggests your globulin level is not problematic.

For foot pain, uric acid and Vitamin D are more critical.

Most of the time, foot pain is related to weight and activities, which cause ligament sprain.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
