Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a diabetic, and I have an infection on my penis. I got it three to four months before. There is red skin and swelling around the head of the penis. There is mild pain, and the foreskin also cuts when moved backward. Sometimes I have got tiny ulcers on the penis tip. Every day I clean the penis with water after urination. What problem do I have? Please advise me with the medicine to be taken. Still, I did not take any treatment for this issue. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. But there are no attached photographs in your message. It may be candidal balanoposthitis as you have described, but I need to see the picture to be sure and to suggest. Kindly send a picture of the affected area to assess the condition and suggest the appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Take care.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply. I have attached the photographs. Please advise me regarding that.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. “From the report or image attached (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity)”. I understand your concern. From the pictures attached, It seems to be candidal balanoposthitis, a kind of superficial fungal infection of glans and prepuce. Clinically there can be whitish superficial pus bumps, which ruptures to form redness. Linear cuts on the inner surface of the prepuce are common and can cause difficulty in retracting the prepuce. The condition is not a typical sexually transmitted disease and can be seen without sexual contact in many cases. It is also more common in people with diabetes. I would suggest Tablet AF 150 mg (Fluconazole), one tablet today, and repeat after one week. The same treatment for the sexual partner needs to be done. So totally four tablets will be required. Use Candid cream (Clotrimazole) apply twice a day for two weeks. Take Tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg once at night for two weeks. Follow up after two weeks. Take care.
