Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had questions regarding the possibility of having a sexually transmitted infections in the past.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

If in the past, you had STI (sexually transmitted infections) and took proper treatment for it then it would not reoccur without any contact with infectious agents. But still if you have doubt and now you are experiencing symptoms like vaginal discharge or blisters in genital area then you should do the tests for clarification and to avoid such infections, you should keep the genital area clean and dry, change undergarments two times in a day, wash your genitals with soft cleansers, if your partner have any genital infection then it is better to avoid intercourse till the infection is there or at least use condoms.

Hope this information helps you, feel free to ask further queries.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for your concern.

Well, here is my specific question and this was from years ago. I was in a relationship for about a year and a half and when it was over I got tested for STI and they came back negative. Would it still be possible that I had an infection during that year and a half? I keep worrying about chlamydia because they say it rarely has symptoms even though the test came back negative.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

See the incubation period for most of the STI (sexually transmitted infections) is one to three months, within these months, a test might come negative. If you had tested after three months after your relationship ended then there is no chance that infection is there and even if it was there it would not last this long without any symptoms. Chlamydia is a bacterial infection it can be easily treatable and curable with proper antibiotic course so I would suggest not to worry about this.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
