Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
How likely is it for someone to catch an STI in this instance?
I am unsure if I am suffering from STI and waiting for the test results. I was masturbating and may have had some precum touch my clothes. I got disturbed, and my roommate hugged me, and I think my penis would have touched. Now I am super worried about giving them STIs. Is this even possible?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Although STI (sexually transmitted infections) organisms may be present in pre-seminal fluids and get dried once they come in contact with air, the possibility of acquiring STI from the dried pre-seminal fluid is very low.
The possibility of infection for another individual by direct contact depends on whether you are infected.
I suggest you undergo STI panel tests in case of a history of exposure with an infected individual from your end to rule out the possibility of infection.
If you are free of infection, there is nil chance of acquiring any infection at all.
In case you are not infected at all, you need not worry about infecting your roommate at all.
Dried pre-seminal fluids have almost nil possibility of infection as viral or bacterial organisms cannot survive outside one's body and dies quickly when exposed to air and get dried.
As you have mentioned that you are awaiting the results of the tests done from your end, kindly wait for the results.
Do not worry, as worrying increases the release of stress hormones and may weaken your immunity. Have a balanced diet and stay hydrated.
I hope this information will help you.
