I am 22, female. What skin care is best for my acne-prone skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old female. My skin becomes oily in summer and dry in winter. I am also acne-prone. Recently, I used sunscreen, but it made my face look darker and stickier.

I want to know good skincare for summer and winter. I am using a simple company facewash, and it suits me. Can you tell me a moisturizer and a suitable sunscreen? Are there any other details for my skincare routine?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

I suggest you follow a few steps:

  1. You can also use sunscreen or lotion 30 minutes before going outdoors.
  2. To moisturize skin, use any good moisturizing cream containing Niacinamide, Panthenol, and hydrating glycerin immediately after a bath.
  3. Wash your face with cleanser twice daily.

Attach a clinical picture to assess skin texture or tone so I can guide you further.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to contact me again in case you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I saw the pictures (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). My advice is:

  1. Take a tablet of antioxidants with Beta carotene, Zinc sulphate Monohydrate, Selenium dioxide, Manganese, and Copper once daily after breakfast for 30 days.
  2. Apply Adapalene and Clindamycin-containing nano gel on the forehead pimples at night for 15 days.
  3. Apply 20 percent Azelaic acid cream on dark spots in the daytime for 20 days.
  4. Wash your face with face wash or cleanser twice daily for 20 days.
  5. For painful pimples, apply Nadifloxacin cream on the inflammatory pimples for 10 days.
  6. Take a tablet of 500 mg of Ascorbic acid once a day after lunch for 30 days.
  7. Increase vitamin C and A-rich foods in your diet.
  8. Eat Berries, oranges, watermelon, mango, kiwi, pineapple, carrots, and papaya.
  9. Drink seven to eight glasses of water daily.
  10. Avoid direct sunlight.
  11. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.
  12. Avoid popping or pricking the pimples.
  13. Use sunscreen and cream as mentioned previously.

Please consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications after their consent. Kindly follow up after a month.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
