Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 31-year-old male and I have numerous skin tags and moles on my body, mainly in skin folds due to obesity. Recently, I accidentally injured two skin tags on my stomach while showering. They appear to be irritated now. I take 20 mg of Fluoxetine daily. I do not smoke or drink alcohol, and I plan to see a doctor for removal. However, the earliest appointment available is tomorrow. Is it safe to wait until then? I have attached a photograph for reference. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. I read your query and understood your concern.

Skin tags are generally harmless, but any sudden changes in color, size, or shape should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Since you have an upcoming appointment tomorrow, it is fine to wait until then. In the meantime, keep the affected area clean and avoid any further irritation. If you experience any severe pain, bleeding, or signs of infection such as redness, swelling, or pus, it would be best to seek immediate medical attention.

Since you tried to remove it by scratching it will be a good idea to apply some antibiotic ointment over it such as T Bact (Mupirocin), and Betnovate (Betamethasone). You will be fine and it does not look bothersome to me.

I hope my advice will be helpful. Feel free to reach out if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
