Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I do not know my skin type. It is not totally oily or dry. The nose is a little oily sometimes and the chin also. Sometimes it is too rough. In winter my skin gets too dry. Total flaky type and get white spots after use of any talcum powder or any other powder or BB cream. Even my skin gets itchy after the use of vitamin C serum. So please guide my skincare routine for my skin. And suggest to me any suitable sunscreen for my skin. Also, I have too many dark circles. Because of pcod. So please suggest something for that also.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I have gone through the details provided from your end and I do understand your concern. From the information provided, your skin type seems to be of a combination type. In combination skin type, you may find areas where oil secretion is most often confined to the T-zone which includes nose and forehead areas and sometimes cheeks and the other areas will be relatively normal to dry. Combination skin types may also experience oily skin during summer and dry and flaky skin during winter, especially after using talcum powder and BB creams. Apart from the same, vitamin C serums (depending on the brand) can cause sensitivity. I suggest:

1. During winter, make sure to use a moisturizer before applying bb cream or mix a moisturizer with a bb cream when applying. You may even use a regular non-scented oil for the same.

2. Avoid talcum powder. Talcum powder is not an essential skin care product. However, in case of oil secretion on the face, a blotting sheet may be used to dab off excess moisture, oily secretions, and sweat.

3. Vitamin C serum has amazing benefits for the skin. However, using vitamin C of 20 % can cause sensitivity if your skin has not been adapted to vitamin C.

I would suggest starting with vitamin C of 5% strength and using the same for two to three years and once your skin is accustomed to the same, 20% vitamin C serum may be started.

Skincare routine and morning routine :

Step 1: Ahaglow advanced gel face wash: use one pump, massage on wet face in gentle circular motions for one minute, and wash off.

Step 2: Klairs vitamin C drops: Use two to three drops of this serum on the entire face after using the face wash.

Step 3: face moist cream: Use this cream as a moisturizer daily. Take two to three pumps for the entire face including under the eyes.

Step 4: sun stop gold sunscreen gel SPF 55: Use this sunscreen in the morning after using the cream, and keep reapplying the same between 9 am and 5 pm every two hours since every sunscreen loses its efficacy every two hours.

Evening routine :

Step 1: Ahaglow advanced gel face wash.

Step 2: The ordinary niacinamide zinc serum: Use two to three drops of this serum on the entire face

Step 3: Kojiglo gel: Use a thin layer on under-eye areas to reduce dark circles. They may also be used on any dark spots on the skin.

Step 4: Facemoist cream (use on face and under eyes): Apart from the same, consuming vitamin C-rich food like oranges, pears, lemon water, capsicum, and tomatoes and consuming turmeric water daily is good for the skin.

Cap. Evion 400 and capsule Secod can be used daily after dinner for two months.

They help in getting clear and moisturized skin. You may also consider undergoing chemical peels or hydrafacial treatment for skin pampering and for getting beautiful skin every two months from a clinic. They help reduce pigmentation and textures in the skin. I hope I can be of help. Stay happy, healthy, and safe. Take care.

Thank you.
