Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old male. I am reaching out to seek professional guidance on establishing a skincare routine tailored to my specific skin concerns and needs. Kindly provide guidance on selecting the right cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and sunscreens suitable for my skin type. Also, provide assistance in creating a daily and weekly skincare routine that best suits my lifestyle and ensures maximum efficacy. Kindly advise on the most effective ways to protect my skin from the sun's harmful rays, including suitable SPF products and other protective measures.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

I have gone through the details provided from your end, and I do understand your concern. As you have not mentioned your skin type, I will give you an idea of the different skin types and the best skincare routine that would be ideal for each skin type. There are mainly three skin types which include:

  1. Oily skin.
  2. Dry skin.
  3. Combination skin, which includes oiliness on certain areas of the face, especially along the nose and across the forehead along with dryness around the cheek and chin areas.
  4. Ideally, for oily skin types, the best skin care should include the following:

    1. A foaming cleanser: A foaming cleanser is best to get rid of dirt and accumulated sebum from under the skin. It is best to use a foaming cleanser in the morning and at night by gently massaging it on the skin for around one minute and washing it off.
    2. The second step of a skincare routine for oily skin type should include vitamin C serum which is of a low percentage and can range from 5 to 20 percentage. Oily skin being sensitive, five percentage would be the ideal dosage to start.
    3. The next step should include a sunscreen to be used in the morning every two hours from nine to five o'clock. A silicon gel-based sunscreen would be the best choice when it comes to oily skin.
    4. For dry skin, a skincare routine may include:

      1. A milk-based cleanser is to be applied in a similar manner.
      2. A second step should include a combination of Hyaluronic acid and B5 serum, which can be used in two or three drops on the entire face.
      3. For morning time, a lotion-based sunscreen, which includes both mineral and chemical sunscreen would be the best option.
      4. It is very important to use a moisturizer in case of dry skin. A glycerin-based moisturizer which consists of vitamin E like face moist cream would be a good choice.
      5. In the case of combination skin, in a similar manner, a skincare routine should include the following :

        1. A face cleanser that can be gel-based, like AHA Glow Advanced Gel face wash.
        2. A serum which consist of a combination of vitamin C serum and the Hyaluronic acid. Serum B5 can be used on top of it.
        3. A moisturizer, in this case, is optional, after which a sunscreen can be applied in the morning from nine to five o'clock every two hours. For combination skin types, both lotion and silicon gel-based sunscreen would be appropriate.
        4. Kindly follow the above products, skin care routine, and details to help maintain good skin based on your skin type. With respect to the harmful effects of sunlight or you re the harmful effects of sunlight or UV (ultraviolet) rays, which lead to skin pigmentation, skin damage, skin sensitivity, and so on, it is very essential to use physical protection while going out. Additionally, sunscreen is very important to protect you from UV rays. I suggest you choose the sunscreen based on your skin type, as mentioned above. Sunscreen needs to be used every two to three hours on all the exposed areas from nine to five o'clock. If outdoors, sunscreen needs to be applied at least 20 minutes before going out, as every sunscreen needs an activation time of 20 minutes.

I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

          Thank you.
