My grandmother suffers from sleep disorder for about two years. Kindly help.

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My grandmother is suffering from sleeplessness for two years. She started to suffer from this issue after seeing some problems that occurred in my uncle's marriage. She is unable to sleep at night as well as in the morning. She took Ativan 1 mg. Even after taking it, she is unable to sleep. A few days back, we went to a psychiatrist and he advised her to take Sulpitac 50, Trapex 1 mg in the night, and Prodep 10 in the morning along with Pan-D. But still, she could not sleep. Is it safe to take the prescribed medicine for months? Where does her problem lie? How to get sleep naturally? Does taking Trapex 1 mg and Sulpitac 50 help?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your grandmother is suffering from a stress disorder. It causes disturbed sleep. You can consult your psychiatrist to increase her dose of Prodep (Fluoxetine) and Sulpitac (Amisulpride) to reduce stress on her mind. It helps to have good sleep. If you take it again in the morning, it can cause daytime drowsiness. To get sleep naturally, it is good to have a warm water bath before going to bed. Avoid taking caffeine in the evening and have a walk after taking food at night.
