Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I started snoring like three months ago. I sleep less now. The only lifestyle change is I gained 5 kg weight. Could snoring be the first symptom of ALS? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You should know that weight gain can lead to snoring and sleep apnea (a disorder caused by low oxygen during sleep). Snoring is not a symptom of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), but the obstruction of the airways causes it, probably caused by the weight gain. If you feel sleepy during the day, I suggest performing a polysomnogram to investigate possible sleep apnea. I hope you will find this information helpful.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
