Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old female, and I have a severe problem of snoring. I start snoring every night which disturbs my husband's sleep, and he even has to go to the next room and sleep. Kindly suggest treatment.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Snoring may be a part of a complex condition called obstructive sleep apnea or may occur without sleep apnea. The primary cause is an obstruction in the upper airway which is accentuated during sleep as the muscles tend to lose their tone when the air is sucked in. One has to look for a potential cause in the nose due to deviated nasal septum (DNS), nasal allergies, hypertrophic turbinates, adenoid masses, or palatine tonsils. Obstruction, if any, may need to be addressed. Sleep apnea and snoring have a direct relation with neck circumference. Further, if you are taking any sleep medications, they might be adding to it.

I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions:

  1. Sleep on the side on position as it is the ideal position to sleep.
  2. Use anti-snoring devices to keep nasal apertures patent during sleep.

Kindly consult a specialist and talk to them for better evaluation.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
