How to treat an itchy ear despite taking medications?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I feel water drops and itching in the ear, minor swelling below the ear for the last 20 days, and sometimes hear horn sounds. I took tablets Ditaze, Cefistar, Mega-CV 625, Pantoprazole, Hifenac-d, and Neosporin. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. As you have feelings of the water in the ear, swelling in the ear, and hoarseness in your voice, I suppose you have a pharyngeal infection. That may give rise to eustachian tube dysfunction leading to such feelings in the ear. So I suggest warm saline gargling and steam inhalation. I hope the above will solve your problem. Thank you and take care.
