What does a gallbladder mass diagnosis mean at age 72?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My grandmother is 72 years old. She is a diabetic patient. Her USG report showed SOL of the gallbladder.

What does it mean?

Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attachment (attachment removed to protect patient identity). In the attached report, there is a space-occupying lesion in the gallbladder. It has wall thickening.

Usually, it is due to a large stone. But no stone is seen in the ultrasonography images. Hence, it is advisable to investigate with a higher investigation, that is CT (computed tomography) scan of the abdomen to rule out any tumor, if present.

You can consult a surgeon for a physical examination.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
