Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Lately, I feel a rubber band-like feeling around my abdomen up to my chest. I am having difficulty breathing at some point. I also feel twitches at the sides of my neck. I recently had spinal surgery due to Potts disease. I lie down most of the time because I am still unable to walk. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Well, you have a rubber band-like sensation around your abdomen. I assume you are referring to abdominal tightness, also known as bloating, which can be caused by indigestion (as evidenced by your diet and resting state) and can simply restrict abdominal muscles to assist in breathing, resulting in difficulty breathing. As your doctor has declared your thoracic X-ray clear, I recommend you ask your treating doctor to put you on some antacids and, yes, start eating healthy and high-fiber foods. Elevate the head of the bed, and if it fails to solve the problem, ask your doctor to do an ultrasound scan of the abdomen for further information.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
