Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been spotting for six consecutive days intermittently. The spotting is never the same color; it can be pale pink, red, or brown. My period is supposed to start six days from now. I also have nausea, exhaustion, lower back discomfort, and headaches. I have never had this much spotting for so long, and the bleeding is not heavy enough to wear a sanitary napkin. I do have unprotected sex with my boyfriend frequently. Can it be a sign of pregnancy? Should I be concerned? My periods are irregular, but they have been on time for the past few months. What could be causing this? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

Premenstrual spotting is caused by either a faulty follicular cycle or an ovulatory cycle, which results in low progesterone levels and spotting. It can happen occasionally, either without reason or due to stress or a sudden change in diet or weight. There is no reason to be concerned if there is no evident cause because it is unlikely to be important. Other symptoms are not connected to spotting but could be brought on by stress. Please wait till the period all the symptoms should subside by then.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
