What are the alternatives to proton pump inhibitors?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have severe stomach pain and also back pain. I am currently taking Pantoprazole, Omeprazole, and Ciprofloxacin. But no relief.

So please suggest some alternative to solve this issue.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

From what you have mentioned, I suppose you have peptic ulcer disease.

I suggest that you take the following:

  1. Capsule Omeprazole 20 mg twice a day for 30 days.
  2. Capsule Mebeverine 200 mg twice a day for 30 days.
  3. Tablet Hyoscine (Buscopan) 10 mg twice daily for three to five days.

Please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

I also suggest you eat bland food without oil and spices, yogurt, and drink cold milk.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
