Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am diagnosed with 6 cm SCH in the seventh week of pregnancy. But I do not have any bleeding and the doctor put me on bed rest for two weeks. I am worried. I have a kid in 5 years old and never experienced anything during my first pregnancy.

Please advise me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Subchorionic hemorrhage is due to some small separation. I hope what you meant was 6 mm. As six centimeters is too big. But whatever the size of the hemorrhage, no rest is needed. No matter what posture you are in, the uterus and baby are not affected. Baby's attachment to the uterine lining is not by any mechanical forces, it is by chemical and hormonal attachment.

All you need to avoid is heavy work and all sorts of fevers. Urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal infections can dislodge an embryo.

If two weeks have lapsed since your scan, take a repeat scan, and look for the size of the clot and also fetal growth.

I hope I have clarified your query, do write back if any more queries and for your feedback.

All the best.
