This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 45 years old, and a month ago, I noticed reddish-brown spotting on my palms and under the fingernails of my right hand. I tried to wash them off, but they did not go away. However, I do not have any pain. Kindly help me find a solution to get rid of this.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Had these lesions appeared after some heavy manual work? They look like old hemorrhagic marks. Following some event, there might have been a mild bleed under the skin. When that happens, the red blood cells can break and release hemoglobin. The hemoglobin contains iron, which will stain the skin from within. The stain will go off by itself in some time. Do not worry. I hope this has helped you.
