Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing suicidal ideation and want to seek help. Can you provide personalized guidance on suicide prevention, including immediate steps that I should take, resources that are available for support, and considerations based on my mental health and current situation? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

There are many reasons for suicidal ideation. The most common reasons include depression, substance abuse like alcohol, opioids, cannabis, personality disorder, and chronic stressful life. A person needs to take treatment if the person has any of the above disorders so that the person's suicidal thoughts can be managed. There are also some preventive measures that relatives must take when they get to know that the person has suicidal thoughts. These are as follows:

  1. A person must not stay alone and not live alone at home or in a room.

  2. Do not allow the person to lock their room or bathroom from inside when the person is inside alone.

  3. Do not keep anything handy that can help the individual to harm or kill themselves like a knife, glass, rope, clothes, etc.

  4. A person must take treatment or consult the nearest psychiatrist as early as he can.

  5. Suicidal is an energy situation. It is an impulsive condition. You can get help from the nearest police if you do not get any help. Police will help you to get to the nearest hospital.

Always remember that suicide is not the solution to any problem, but every problem has one good solution.

I hope you got answers to all the queries that you had. Do revert in case of any further queries.
