Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter aged 10 years had swallowed button cell accidentally. In the x-ray, it is in the intestine. Will it come out through waste?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern about your daughter's health.

Yes, button cell would come with stool generally. But sometimes it get stuck at the junction of the large intestine and small intestine. In such a case, she might require a colonoscopy or surgery to remove the cell. But the possibility for such a scenario is very rare. You should give her a soft, semi-solid diet which is good in digestion and also facilitate intesine movement.

Regards.
