Hi doctor,
My father had breathing problems and experienced shortness of breath. He took an echocardiogram (ECHO), and the report mentions left ventricular systolic dysfunction, and the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 31 %. The cardiologist has given medications. Now he does not have breathing problems after taking medicines. But we would like to know the other precautions we need to take apart from taking drugs. Is this a severe problem? Is there a possibility for left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) to increase? He does not have diabetes. He is taking medications like tablet Aztolet 75 / 10 (Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel), tablet Carca (Carvedilol) 3.125 mg, tablet Azmarda (Sacubitril and Valsartan) 50 mg, tablet Tide Plus (Spironolactone and Torasemide) 10 mg, and tablet Febuget (Febuxostat) 40 mg. Please help me, doctor. Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
He should continue medicines and remain compliant with these. Other precautions are to reduce salt intake; if there is fluid overload, then reduce liquids intake. Regularly get blood tests done, including renal function tests and electrolytes tests. These medicines are good. I suggest you take (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her and take the medication with their consent) tablet Empagliflozin 10 mg once daily. All these medicines improve ejection fraction over time but should be continued indefinitely. Thanks and regards.
