Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have recently tanned, and the skin on my chin became dry and now has peeled. The patch is now whiter than the surrounding skin. It got peeled and became sore. I am attaching a photo for your reference. Please give me a solution.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the attached photo (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) and have read your brief history. It looks like you have photodermatitis or hypersensitivity to sunlight. Other conditions to be ruled out are atopic dermatitis (skin allergy caused due to genetically linked allergies like dust allergy, asthma, rhinitis), eczema, and irritant dermatitis. You can use Desonide lotion (thin layer) only on the lesion at night for two weeks. Use moisturizers like Cetaphil or CeraVe to apply on the face in the morning and at night. Take capsule Antoxid HC (Beta Carotene, Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate, Selenium Dioxide, Manganese, and Copper) once daily for 30 days. Use Cetaphil soap for the face twice daily. Take Tablet Cetirizine 10 mg once daily at night for five days. Use La Shield sunscreen SPF 50 morning and afternoon. Review after two weeks. Please follow some measures. Avoid 11 AM to 3 PM sunlight, and apply sunscreen two hours before getting out in the sun. Wear a cap or carry an umbrella. Do not scratch that area, as it can lead to secondary bacterial infection. Do not use soap or cleansers. Avoid make-up products until the flare-up reduces. Have food rich in anti-oxidants. I hope your query is cleared. Thank you and take care.
