Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a steroid damaged face. My facial skin is very sensitive now, and I have facial telangiectasia and skin atrophy. I have high facial hair growth. How can I improve my skin complexion?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please send a few good quality photographs taken in natural light. Which steroid and for how long have you applied it? I am looking forward to your response to help you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am not able to effectively capture the pictures. But I have extremely oily and sensitive skin. I am not sure about the steroid name as it was some unlabelled cream prescribed by my beautician. I used it for almost two months. For the past two years, I am not using any creams. Now my skin complexion is reduced than before. I still could see facial telangiectasia when I look very closely. And the skin around my eye is very thin. Also, I see a lot of hair growth on my face.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are suffering from the topical steroid-dependent face. It is a very difficult condition to treat. I would advise you to use capsule Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for one month. Desowen lotion once daily every alternate day. Apply La Shield Fisico sunscreen at 8, 11, and 2 PM. One fingertip unit for each application and Venusia cream four to five times daily. I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I would like to know how long I should continue all these medications, and the steroid use happened around two to three years before. So will the medications help now? Also, is there any suggestion to help with the uneven skin tone and excessive facial hair growth other than laser treatments? I would say my skin tone is very dark than before.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Depending on the response, your course can extend to three to four months. Yes, these medications would help. You will start getting skin tone by this only, but it can take years to return to normal as steroids usually permanently damage the face. A laser is a good option for hair removal. Nevertheless, you can also try Elyn cream. I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
