Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from recurrent headaches while studying. My eye examination is normal. I think I have had chronic tension-type headaches affecting my whole head for the past four years.
Currently, I take Tryptomer 50 mg at 8 PM daily, along with Trazine H and Migrabeta Plus, but I do not experience permanent relief. My headaches are triggered while studying or reading books.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query, and I understand your concern.
Based on your description, this appears to be a classic case of chronic tension-type headache associated with studying, likely triggered by eye strain and mental stress. Since your eye examination is normal, the focus should be on prevention and lifestyle modification.
Regarding medications, Tryptomer 50 mg (Amitriptyline) is appropriate for chronic tension headaches, but it may take four to eight weeks to achieve full benefit, and the dose may need adjustment. Trazine H (Trifluoperazine and Trihexyphenidyl) and Migrabeta Plus (Propranolol and Flunarizine) are likely used for acute attacks, but overusing painkillers can worsen headaches (medication overuse headache), so daily use should be avoided.
For immediate relief during study, pay attention to ergonomics by keeping your study table and chair at the correct height, avoiding studying while lying in bed, following the 20-20-20 rule (look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes), and performing gentle neck and shoulder stretches every hour.
For long-term relief, maintain good hydration, follow a consistent sleep schedule (which Tryptomer can help support), and practice stress management techniques such as deep breathing for five minutes before studying. If there is no improvement within four weeks, a consultation with a neurologist is recommended for further evaluation.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
