Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had throat pain for a long time, for which I take antibiotics. It subsides and reoccurs once I stop the medications. I take proper care and try to keep myself warm, but it does not help. I am not even able to speak when I wake up in the morning. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I can understand your concern.

Throat pain that persists for a long time and comes back after taking antibiotics could be a sign of chronic throat inflammation, also known as chronic pharyngitis. Chronic pharyngitis can be caused by a variety of factors, such as bacterial or viral infections, acid reflux, or allergies.

In addition to taking antibiotics, it is important to practice good throat hygiene, such as gargling with salt water, avoiding smoking and alcohol, and staying hydrated. It may also be helpful to avoid irritants like spicy or acidic foods and drinks and to sleep with your head elevated to prevent acid reflux.

If your symptoms persist or are particularly severe, it is recommended that you consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment. Depending on the underlying cause of your chronic throat inflammation, treatment may include medications to manage symptoms like pain and inflammation, as well as lifestyle changes and therapies to address any underlying conditions.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
