Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have tinnitus in my right ear. My reports of audiometry have shown a dip at 4000 Hz, and tympanometry revealed an AS curve in the right ear. I consulted a doctor, and they prescribed me Bilovas, Lezyncet D, and nasal drop Nasivion. I had developed a fungal infection in the external auditory meatus and eustachian tube in my right year the previous year, which was resolved by taking medication. Please help. Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query, and I can understand your concern. AS (stiff middle ear) curve in tympanometry signifies ossicular fixity, which is not letting the conduction of sound properly. The dip at 4000 Hertz signifies noise trauma. These are not confirmatory diagnoses, and hence, we need to evaluate you further to make a clear diagnosis. For tinnitus, continue the medication prescribed by the doctor. But it is important to accurately diagnose your ear condition. Further details regarding when the problem started are necessary for treatment. 1. Is there any hearing loss that you feel? 2. When does tinnitus stop or start? 3. Is there any relation with breathing? 4. Do any factors worsen or aggravate your condition? 5. Do you have an earache, ear discharge, vertigo, or intolerance to loud sounds? Provide further information along with reports of audiometry, tympanometry, and any other investigation. It is important we see the graph and not just the printed report (impression) of the audiologist. I hope this information will help you. Thank you.
