Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Last week, I had tonsillitis. It got healed. After a few days, it got started again on the right tonsil and it got worsened. Right now, I have problems in swallowing and talking. I also have pain in my right ear and I can barely sleep at night. Sometimes, I get swelling on the inside of the throat and I had some white things similar to pus. I treated it by doing saltwater gargling every day and night with lozenges. I got fever once due to it. This has been happening for a week and I have difficulty in swallowing my foods. Please give your opinion. How to reduce the pain? I want to eat my normal food as I am taking only soups and water. I cannot talk comfortably. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you are having acute tonsillitis, you can take the following medications. You can take tablet Amoxiclav 625 mg (Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid) three times a day for seven days. You can take tablet Paracetamol 500 mg with Ibuprofen 400 mg one tablet three times a day for two days when you have pain. You can take tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg one tablet at night for seven days. You can do gargling with Betadine 1% 10 ml in 10 ml warm water three times to five times a day. Avoid having cold, spicy, and oily foods. Do steam inhalation every day. This will help you definitely.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
