Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
A few days back, I lost a part of my tooth on the right side of my jaw. Nerve is hurting. But a week ago my jaw bone has been hurting severely. I did not visit the dentist until March. When I visited the clinic, they said it was related to gum disease, and gave me an antibiotics tablet. Clindamycin.
Please help me.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query.
Pain should be due to the tooth rather than the gums. You have said that you lost a part of the tooth, which indicates the decay has eventually led to the breaking of the tooth structure. You have not attached any pictures of the tooth, I advise you to get a virtual consultation to confirm the status of the tooth. According to me, taking antibiotics straight away without addressing the actual dental problem is of less use. I always advise my patients to take antibiotics, as per their dental treatment but not for a complete cure. I suggest you stop the antibiotics till you visit the dentist because antibiotics usage gives you lots of side effects and chances of becoming resistant to the particular bacteria in the long duration. To get rid of pain, please take only painkillers such as a tablet Paracetamol 500mg orally thrice daily for two to three days. If you need a permanent solution to your problem, then go for dental treatment like a filling or a professional cleaning procedure after a proper diagnosis done by a doctor.
I hope my answer helps you. If any concerns consult me at icliniq.com.
Thanks and regards.
