What is the most effective way to get rid of a severe toothache? Last Sunday, I went to a different clinic for tooth filling because my dentist went abroad for vacation. In fact, it lessened the pain, but afterward, it became more painful. So I contacted my dentist for medicine to take, and he prescribed me to drink Clindamycin and Dolfenal. And until today, after the effectiveness of the medicine, I cannot bear the pain. I am planning to remove it, but the dentist of my friend did not recommend it because it might have an abscess on it, while my dentist said that it is alright to remove. And because of that, I am confused about which one I should follow. I hope you can respond to this so that I can decide whether to remove it or not.

Yes, as the other dentist said, it could be a dental abscess. You have also mentioned that you have severe pain, which means there is definitely an infection underneath. I suggest you crush one tablet of Ketorol DT (Ketorolac) 10 mg in half a glass of water and drink it for effective pain relief. Plus, you can take the same in tablet form thrice daily after food for three days. This is just a painkiller. Regarding the removal of that tooth, the choice is completely yours. It is alright to get it removed as you think, and then you shall go for any of the replacement options later on. If not removed, then the treatment plan would be root canal therapy, depending on how much tooth structure is left behind.
