Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been trying to speak with a urologist after many STD screenings. All my tests have come back negative, yet the symptoms I face says otherwise. I have had three different screenings since last year. I suffer from discomfort (minor pain), and a weak bladder (urinating often). That comes and goes, even as I write this I face these issues. Because of my worry, I have taken a lot of precautionary medication ahead of results and then the results come back negative. I am treated for everything from Trichomonas to HIV. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Which medications did you take beside antibiotics? What is the pH of your urine in urine routine examination? How do you diagnose that you have a weak bladder? Any cystoscopy, uroflow, or urodynamic study done? Which are the three most common symptoms you are facing?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have taken only antibiotics. I also take Finasteride. I do not believe I have done a pH test of the urine, only STD tests which are all negative. I say weak bladder because I am frequently urinating and when I hold, it usually makes the other symptoms worse until I have gone to the restroom. Most common symptoms are urethra is tender, very tender. A simple touch can trigger the nerves, as well as a continued throbbing sensation and frequent urination.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I will recommend to start tablet Tolterodine 2 mg OD for 2 weeks, tablet Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) one tablet TDS for two weeks (you will get orange color urine so do not get afraid), tablet Atarax (Hydroxyzine dihydrochloride) 25 mg 1-0-1 for two weeks, tablet Pentosan polysulfate 1-1-1 for two weeks. I do not think you have STD (sexually transmitted disease), try the above drug regimen for two weeks. Get an ultrasound abdomen with PVRU (post-void residual urine) done (in case already done then let me know).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
