Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female with combination skin. I have uneven skin tone, dark spots, blemishes, dark circles, acne breakouts, blackheads, and darker areas around my mouth. My skin looks dull and lacks radiance. I want to know what the best cleanser and skincare routine is for my face to improve these concerns and achieve glowing, clear, and even-toned skin.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand how frustrating uneven skin tone, dark spots, breakouts, blackheads, and dullness can feel, especially when you want clear, glowing skin. Combination skin needs a balanced approach, not too harsh and not too heavy. The forehead is especially prone because of oil glands and friction from hair. For now, keep your routine simple and consistent.

For moderate acne, your treatment regimen needs a combination approach. For daily care, use a simple, refreshing face wash, followed by a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer or physiogel AI sensitive moisturizer. Sunscreen is very important. Sunscreen SPF 30 or higher should be applied every morning, even indoors, to prevent worsening of pigmentation.

For your acne management, start Persol Plus with Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide at night daily. Apply a pea-sized amount on the entire face under the cover of a gentle moisturizer to protect your skin barrier. This will help improve texture, comedones, and some hyperpigmentation. Once the active acne improves, you can incorporate Kojivit plus cream to help with post-acne hyperpigmentation.

  • Avoid harsh scrubs, over-washing, or picking at your skin.

  • Keep your hands clean, maintain a balanced diet, and stay hydrated.

  • Since your skin is sensitive and easily irritated, it is important to introduce products slowly and monitor tolerance.

  • Be patient with the treatment; it usually takes six to eight weeks to see noticeable improvement, and consistent use of sunscreen and moisturizers is key for recovery.

For dark circles, get your serum iron levels checked, as iron deficiency is related to hyperpigmentation around the eyes. To manage effectively, use a cream containing a combination of Kojic acid, Arbutin, and Glycolic acidat bedtime. Apply with the help of your ring finger around the eyes very gently and leave it overnight.

I want to reassure you that with proper care, gentle treatment, and patience, your skin can improve significantly over time. You are not alone in this, and your skin concerns are very valid.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
