Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My period ended eight days before in the morning, and I had unprotected sex in the evening. Today, eight days after, I am spotting without any clots. The blood is also red-colored and thin. I hope you can give me an opinion about this. I want to avoid pregnancy. How should I end it? Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If you have regular periods, then do not worry. You had intercourse on a safe period, and there is no possibility of getting pregnant if you are sure about your dates, and after that, you did not go through any sexual activity. The emergency contraceptive pill should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Otherwise, it would not give results as expected. After taking the contraceptive pill, there is a chance of withdrawal bleeding, but this bleeding looks like that only. It is quite normal.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
