Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the sixth day of my period in which bleeding has already stopped. What should I do to avoid pregnancy?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please send me some more details. If you have regular cycles with 28 days or more, then day six of periods is not the fertile period of your cycle. But having short irregular periods results in the risk of having the issue of conception. So check on your cycles. If regular and if 28 days or more in duration then no need of I-pill or emergency contraceptive. Otherwise, in case of the irregular or short period better to have emergency contraceptives pill. Have complete treatment of any health issue you have. Have a balanced diet, weight, and BMI. Practice daily walk and yoga. You can have regular contraceptives to avoid conception.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Then when will I get my periods after taking I-pill?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You will have withdrawal bleed within two weeks of I-pill intake if you are healthy and had i-pill without vomitings and within 48 to 72 hours post-sex.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
