Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on 11th of this month, and took an I-pill the next day and again on 13th, the condom leaked, should I take another I-pill? I finished my periods on 10th of this month.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have taken an emergency pill within 72 hours of intercourse there is no chance of pregnancy. The pill will be effective for 72 hours of intercourse there is no need to repeat the same. However, if you have a doubt then get back to me. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had sex one day after taking I-pill, so no need of taking it again? Also how many doses per month is safe? Is there anything else that I should know?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The pill will be effective for 72 hours of intercourse. So if you have done sex within 72 hours of taking the pill, there is no need to repeat. Do not take emergency pills frequently, as it is a hormonal pill and can cause hormonal changes. The name itself says emergency, so use it only in case of other contraceptive failures occur.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
