Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Recently, I have had some unusual symptoms. My girlfriend of six months and myself have regular and frequent sex. She never had any issues and also tested negative for STDs. However, I am having urethral irritation and discomfort during urination for the last couple of days. Today, I started getting a clear and milky discharge. I have read online that the irritation can be due to urethritis. I had a similar complaint a few years ago with my previous partner. I also got myself tested for STDs; however, the result came back negative. Also, the symptoms subsided within a week. What can be the reason for my symptoms? Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. You have urethritis that can be due to gonococcal and non-gonococcal causes. It is difficult to differentiate between both without a clinical and a laboratory examination. I suggest you can take tablet Azithromycin 1 gm single dose and tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day. Also, drink lots of water and avoid sexual activity for the time being. I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further questions. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
