Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been told I am most likely in perimenopause at 36. Over the last few months, I have been getting recurrent UTIs but have never had any symptoms of a UTI. I just tested positive on the dipstick when my doctor did the test. I have done a home UTI test this morning, and it is positive for leukocytes but negative for nitronites. I have had no symptoms of a UTI, but I am wondering if I need an antibiotic.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome toicliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I will help you as much as I can. So you need to get a complete urine examination, urine culture, and sensitivity test done. Also, get fasting blood glucose and HbA1c, and postprandial blood glucose, and please get back to me with the reports. Stop all antibiotics as of now. You can even consult me through this app. I hope your periods are okay and you are not having a bad vaginal discharge.

  1. When was your last menstrual period?

  2. Are you married, and do you have children?

Drink lots of water and keep clean. Also, get an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis.

Revert with the answer to assist further. Take care.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
